Dublin is the
thriving capital city of the Republic of Ireland. It is on a par with
many bigger European cities in terms of its vibrancy, its nightlife
and its tourist attractions, and is the most popular entry point for
international visitors to Ireland. As a city it is disproportionately
large for the size of the country; almost a third of the Republic's
population lives in the greater Dublin area. The centre is however
relatively small and can be navigated by foot, with most of the population
living in sprawling suburbs.
Ireland has enjoyed
astonishing economic success over the past decade. The
need for people with experience is high. Individuals with a year or
more experience are in high demand. The working culture is fairly
similar to that of London. People generally start at 8.30am and finish
at around 6 - 6.30pm.
If you are from
outside the European Union you will need to establish whether you
are allowed to work in Ireland.
With regards to
health care in Dublin, of the hospitals listed below, the large ones
that have casualty departments are The Mater, James Connolly Memorial,
St James, St Vincents, Beaumont and to a smaller extent Meath St.
The Rotunda and the Coombe are Maternity Hospitals. The others below
are self explanatory. There is also the Temple St Childrens hospital
which caters only for children (also has a children's casualty department),
this is located in the city centre on Temple Street.

Housing
Services:
Dublin City Council is the largest housing authority in the country,
with 26,500 dwellings
The Affordable
Housing Scheme provides for the sale of newly constructed
houses and apartments in areas where the prices have created an affordability
gap for lower income house purchasers. Under this scheme homes are
built on Dublin City Council owned lands. In order to qualify you
must be a first time buyer (certain limited exceptions apply), you
must be in permanent employment for at least one year prior to application,
your income on your P60 from the previous tax year must be within
the following limits:
-
Single
Income: must not exceed €40,000 in the previous tax year.
-
Two Income Household: two and a half times the principal earner
(larger) plus once the subsidary (smaller) earner must not exceed
€100,000 in the previous tax year.
These
upper income limits do not apply if you are a tenant or a tenant purchaser
of a Local Authority or a tenant of a Voluntary Association or your
name is on a Local Authority housing list.
Application
forms become available when a development is advertised. Advertisements
appear in local and national press and on the City Council’s website.
A once off (non-refundable) administration charge of €30 will apply
when making a first application for this affordable housing scheme.
